TRIANGULAR SALVERS BECAME A VOGUE IN THE 1740's, YET DUE TO THE METICULOUS PRECISION NEEDED TO MAKE THEM, ONLY A FEW WERE MADE IN THAT DECADE;
WERE ONE TO SPECULATE ON THE DEGREE OF RARITY OF SUCH SALVERS, PERHAPS IT WOULD NOT BE QUITE UNFOUNDED TO ASSERT THAT FOR EVERY TEN THOUSAND ROUND SALVERS MADE IN THE GEORGIAN ERA, THERE WAS ONE TRIANGULAR MADE. AS SUCH, WE KNOW OF ONLY THREE SUCH SALVERS OFFERED BY MAJOR INTERNATIONAL AUCTION HOUSES SINCE THE TURN OF THE PRESENT CENTURY-- AND QUITE EXPECTEDLY, THEY HAVE FETCHED HIGH PRICES;
THE PRESENT SLAVER IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY AND IS ELABORATELY DESIGNED AND DECORATED. IT SITS ON THREE PAW FEET, THE RIM WITH SCROLLS AND SHELLS AT INTERVALS, THE FIELD FLAT-CHASED WITH FLOWERS, FOLIATE AND FISH SCALES AND IS CENTERED BY A COAT OF ARMS;
