    Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF)
    Silber Encampment No. 46
    Lewis Silber was a dealer in dry & fancy goods in the mid 1800s
    He had businesses in Milwaukee (WI), New London (WI), and Waupun (WI)
    He united with the order and became very active
    He was elected to several leading positions within the Wisconsin order
    Those positions included Grand Junior Warden, Grand High Priest, and ultimately Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment of the State of Wisconsin
    While holding the position of Grand Patriarch he instituted nine new encampments, one of which bore his name (No. 46 in Hudson, WI)
    his highest honor within the order came in 1872 when he was elected to the office of Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of the United States
    this sign is from the Silber Encampment (No. 46) established by Lewis Silber in Hudson, WI.
    it is glass and measures 28 inches wide x 10 inches tall
    black with white lettering, it has a black board that goes behind it to fill in spaces where the black on the glass had worn away
    this is a very RARE Odd Fellows piece and any collector would be glad to have it
    offered for local pickup given its fragility
