child's high chair tray.
One of the most
rare
forms in
child silver.
The tray features
beautifully acid etched
images of
Nursery Rhymes, their names
and
brilliant
hand hammered
center surface.
The Newark NJ firm founded
1855.
Highly regarded for
Art Nouveau jewelry,
vanity
and
child wares.
Their unique trademark
a "fasces"
an axe, wrapped in rods
and straps, as found on this tray,
used
1855 - 1892.
Kerr's work found in
the
Cooper Hewitt Museum, NYC
and
other collections.
Later period engraved presentation (on the underside) for the
original owner, Betty, her name on the face.
This late 19th century Kerr sterling Nursery Rhyme tray 14 3/4 inches by 9 1/2 inches
and weighs touch over 26 standard ounces.
Hallmarked as shown.
In very fine condition, appears little used.
