Description
RS PRUSSIA 3 FTD IND NUT DISH OPEN SALT CELLAR DIP LILIES OF THE VALLEY SIGNEDA beautiful round hand painted and hand decorated signed RS Prussia porcelain china salt cellar or individual nut dish sitting on three tiny feet.
This little beauty has a scalloped ribbed rim and is decorated with floral transfers of what looks to me like white “lilies of the valley” blossoms and accompanying greenery.
There is also hand painted gold trim around the rim and on the feet.
It is made of thin high-quality porcelain that you would expect to see on a Schlegelmilch piece of porcelain.
Please be sure to read the “Age & Condition” paragraphs below.
I am gradually selling my salt cellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800 pieces.
This piece has been in my personal collection since 1987
.
It is signed with the authentic RS Prussia red star mark.
In the book
The Collectors Encyclopedia of R. S. Prussia
by Mary Frank Gaston this is Mark 4, shown on page 33 of this book.
I see nothing the shape of this piece in any of my four RS Prussia books.
I also see nothing this shape in the book
5,000 Open Salts
by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson or the book
The Open Salt Compendium
by Sandra Jzyk & Nina Robertson.
With nothing this shape being pictured in any of these books it should give you an idea that this is not an easy piece to find.
A really beautiful example and a desirable little piece!
I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.

Age and Condition
Circa 1900-1920.
It is in excellent original condition.
Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.
There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines flea bites or repairs to the porcelain.
The gold trim on the top rim and the feet shows wear and I also see some slight wear to the decoration – see the photos.
Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.
A beautiful piece!
Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
