    Purple & White Violets on Divided Porcelain Dish w/ Gold Trim and FAKE Red Mark
    Disclaimer
    :
    Although the maker's mark appears to be fraudulent (see last image for real red mark), it is undetermined whether the mold and/or blank and graphics are authentic. Since the late sixties, marks have been added or changed on authentic "
    RS Prussia
    " originals to enhance their value, along with production of contemporary copies including marks.
    All I can guarantee
    is that the physical profile of this offering is exceptionally unique and
    RARE
    as I have been unable to locate any currently available, sold in the past or even an image anywhere online.  If anyone is able and so inclined, I would welcome any information offered.  That said;
    Description
    : The floral graphics are incredibly realistic and well done.  The porcelain is on the heavy side, but somewhat translucent and nicely glazed front and back except for the three kiln feet.  There is a generous band of gold rim trim as well as additional gold artwork around the top perforation.  There is what appears to be a bell embossed directly below the perforation as well as an embossed scroll under each cup.  The free form perimeter is scalloped both sides of bottom center.
    Interesting fact
    : "
    Between 1861 and 1882 there were three porcelain factories started in the city of Suhl (in what is today Germany, then Prussia) by persons with the last name Schlegelmilch. Erdmann S. in 1861; Reinhold S. in 1869 and Carl S. in 1882. Until recently, it was thought all the Schlegelmilchs were family related. Research by R.H. Capers and Mary Frank Gaston in 1992-94 has shown: 1) none of the factory owners were brothers, and, 2) they did not have a common father, Rudolph Schlegelmilch, supposedly commemorated in the RS mark. Most of the new information came from a previously unpublished German research paper on the Suhl porcelain factories by Bernd Hartwich written in 1984. Gaston presents a revised review of marks and dates used by all the Schlegelmilch factories in her books, Collectors Encyclopedia of R.S. Prussia 3rd Series and 4th Series published by Collector Books.
