RS Prussia Zeh Scherzer Royal Vienna Style Jean-Francois Millet Angelus Plate
Very pretty porcelain plate. Nicely decorated in the Royal Vienna style with a central transfer scene of The Angelus by Jean-Francois Millet, with a boy and girl on a farm praying. Has a brown border with elaborate fancy gold gilding. Marked Z. S. & Co Bavaria on the reverse in green.
This mark was used by Zeh Scherzer & Co between 1880 and 1918. Also has a gold Royal Vienna crown & beehive mark, often scene on Royal Vienna style porcelain from this era. The Royal Vienna crown mark is shown in the RS Prussia books as an RS Prussia mark.
Has some wear to the gilding, mostly along the edge. Otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.
Measures approximately 9 3/4 inches wide.
